Privacy

Last updated: October 8, 2026. Your answers touch on your faith and your private life: here is exactly what we do with them, and what we will never do.

In short

My Emouna asks you questions about your Jewish life. This information is sensitive: it reveals your religious beliefs and practice. We treat it accordingly.

We store on our server only what is needed to give you your results, and only with your explicit consent. We never sell your personal data and never share it with third parties for commercial purposes. Your answers are never used to target you with advertising.

You can erase everything at any time, from the app or with a simple email.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Devon Engine, a [legal form] with a share capital of [share capital], registered under no. [SIREN / RCS no.], with its registered office at [registered office address]. Devon Engine publishes My Emouna (myemouna.com).

For any question about your data: contact@myemouna.com.

The data we collect

When you ask to see your results: your first name, your email address, your language, your two consent choices and their date.

Your profile: gender, age range, relationship status, whether you have children, country, practice framework (for example Orthodox, Masorti, Liberal, cultural), community of origin and status (for example born Jewish, convert, in the process of conversion).

Your results: your answers to the questions, your overall and per-area scores, your level, your biblical profile and the version you took (short or full). If your score changes later, because you go deeper or retake the questionnaire, the stored results are updated.

A random key specific to your results (the “results key”), created on your device and stored with your results, so they can be found and erased when you use “Erase everything”.

Anonymous audience statistics, described below under “Audience measurement”.

We never ask for your last name, postal address, phone number or a password: there is no account.

Sensitive data, protected by your explicit consent

Your answers and profile reveal your religious beliefs and practice. The GDPR lists them among the “special categories of personal data” (Article 9): processing them is prohibited unless, in particular, you give your explicit consent.

That is why, before showing your results, we ask you to tick a required, unticked box by which you agree that this data be stored for the purposes described here. Until you tick it, nothing is sent to our server.

A second, separate and optional box lets you receive My Emouna news and good deals by email, including offers from its partners (sent by My Emouna: your address is never passed on to them). Leaving it unticked changes nothing about your access to the service.

You can withdraw your consent at any time (see “Your rights”). Withdrawal does not affect what was done before, but it leads to your results being erased from our server.

Why we use it, and on what basis

To give you access to your results and keep them. Legal basis: your explicit consent (Articles 6(1)(a) and 9(2)(a) GDPR).

To contact you about your results or the service, for example with important information about My Emouna or a change to this policy. Legal basis: your consent.

To send you news and good deals from My Emouna and its partners, only if you ticked the optional box. Legal basis: your consent. At most about one email a month. Your latest choice replaces the previous one: if you untick the box later, we respect it. You can also unsubscribe through the link in every email or by writing to us.

To produce aggregated, anonymous statistics that help us improve the questions and content. Legal basis: your consent for your results data; for audience measurement, our legitimate interest in running and improving the site (Article 6(1)(f)), under the exemption conditions set by the CNIL, the French data protection authority.

Your score, level and biblical profile are calculated automatically, solely to show them to you. We carry out no profiling that produces legal effects or similarly significantly affects you, no ad targeting and no resale.

Who can access it

Only the publisher, Devon Engine, accesses your data, through a password-protected administration interface.

Our technical providers, who act only on our instructions and are bound by confidentiality: Vercel Inc. (hosting of the site and server functions, which run in the Paris region), 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA; Neon (Postgres database, provided through the Vercel Marketplace), hosted in the European Union (AWS Frankfurt, Germany).

Your data is never sold, rented or transferred, and never shared with any third party for advertising. It could be disclosed to an authority only where the law requires it. My Emouna may display partner content or advertising (for example from brands related to Jewish life): it is chosen by page or topic, never based on your answers or profile, and without advertising trackers. We may present overall, anonymous statistics to partners (for example the number of visitors), never data that can identify you.

Transfers outside the European Union

Your database is hosted in the European Union and the server functions run in Paris. As Vercel is a US company, some data may nevertheless pass through or be accessible from the United States, for example to deliver pages or for technical support.

These transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, to which Vercel adheres, and by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Your first name, email and results: 3 years after your last interaction with My Emouna (for example your last questionnaire or your last message), after which they are deleted or anonymised.

If you ask for erasure or withdraw your consent: deleted immediately.

Your news subscription: until you unsubscribe.

Audience measurement events: 25 months at most.

Data stored on your device stays there until you erase it.

How we protect it

All exchanges with the site are encrypted (HTTPS). Data is encrypted at rest by our providers. Access is restricted to the publisher and protected by a password. We collect only what is necessary.

In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to you, we will notify the CNIL and, if the risk is high, inform you directly.

Audience measurement

Vercel Web Analytics: aggregated page-view statistics, without cookies, without storing your IP address or any personal data.

Our own log of anonymous steps: visit, questionnaire started, version chosen, chapter finished, questionnaire finished (with only the version taken), email given (without the address itself), results viewed, “share” clicked, mini-games. Each event is linked to a random measurement identifier created on your device and kept in its local storage (no cookie), along with the language and device type (mobile, tablet or computer). None of your answers, no profile information and not your score are included.

This data is used only for aggregated statistics (for example the completion rate or the step where people stop). The measurement identifier is separate from the results key: it is never linked to your results or your email. This data is not combined with other data or used to track you on other sites, and it is kept for 25 months at most. This measurement follows the CNIL's guidance on audience measurement exempt from consent.

You can object at any time, directly in the app: in the settings (gear icon at the top of the page), turn off “Anonymous usage stats”. Events stop being sent and the measurement identifier is deleted from your device. You can also write to contact@myemouna.com.

On your device, and cookies

Your browser keeps in its local storage (localStorage): your answers, profile, history, settings, mini-game scores, the results key, the audience measurement identifier (unless you turned it off), and the first name and email you gave. This is what lets you pick up where you left off.

Two technical cookies: the language you chose (kept for one year) and the detected country (kept for 30 days). The country is inferred from your IP address by the host and is used only to choose the default language and pre-fill your country.

There are no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers. These cookies and this storage are necessary for the service or exempt from consent: that is why no cookie banner is shown.

As with any website, the host receives the technical information of each visit (IP address, browser) to serve the pages and protect the service.

When you share your result

The link or image you share (WhatsApp, image, link) contains only what you choose to show: your first name, your level, your biblical profile, and your score if you turned it on. Your answers are never shared.

Once shared, these items are visible to their recipients and subject to the rules of the app you used. You are responsible for what you choose to share.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data and to object to its processing, the right to withdraw your consent at any time, and the right to give instructions about what happens to your data after your death (French Data Protection Act).

To erase: in the settings (gear icon at the top of the page), “Erase everything” deletes all the data on your device and sends a request to delete the results stored on our server, found using your email and the results key. Anonymous audience measurement events cannot be linked to you and are therefore not affected.

For anything else, or if you have changed device: write to contact@myemouna.com, ideally from the address you gave us. If there is any doubt about your identity, we may ask you to confirm it.

To stop receiving news: click the unsubscribe link in any email, untick the box next time you get your results, or write to us.

We reply within one month. If you believe your rights have not been respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr) or with the data protection authority of your country.

Minors

My Emouna is open to all ages. In France, from the age of 15 you can consent on your own to the processing of your data.

If you are under 15, you need the agreement of a parent or of the person with parental authority before giving your first name and email. If we learn that results were stored without this agreement, we delete them. A parent can ask us to erase them at contact@myemouna.com.

Changes

We may update this policy, in particular if the service changes. The date of the last update appears at the top of this page. If there is a significant change, we will let you know by email if you gave us your address, and we will ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
